Banks’ Chief Designer, Bob Robe is shown measuring D-Max Type-R exhaust manifolds. Robe designed and fabricated the exhaust manifolds from 321 stainless steel, which is a high grade of stainless that can handle elevated temperatures longer than other grades of stainless. During a 25-hour race, there is a strong possibility of cracks occurring. Robe considers exhaust manifolds “expendable” and will have several sets available.
