Four Decades Defending Our Country

This July, Banks Power celebrates 40 years of designing and providing turbocharged gasoline and diesel engines for military water craft and wheeled vehicles. I’m not supposed to know where they go and what they do. But I do know that some very brave people deploy with them. A few of those, I’m honored to say, call me Brother. I’m also proud of my family, their service and the service of every one of you reading this, this 4th of July! – Gale Banks

HMMWV’s in Afghanistan suffered from altitude sickness. We raced to 14,110 feet with an open class Twin Turbo Alcohol Chevy and a Super-Turbo Detroit Diesel Freightliner at Pikes Peak to develop our HMMWV turbo solution. Working on military vehicles is not new in my family. Here’s my dad, Army Air Corps Sargent, Gale Banks senior, at the airbase in Osaka Japan in 1945. Europe, 1945. The big guy is my uncle, John Banks who gave me my first job. He taught me that you word is your bond. He also started my love for boats.

Iraq, Second Campaign. Army Combat Medic, Andrew Banks, our youngest son. A true gearhead, his service in combat brought pride to our family and our company.
