A good illustration of how form follows function, the Banks Big Hoss® intake manifold was designed to provide a straight air path into the plenum and to incorporate moderate length runners for outstanding performance over a wide RPM range.  This intake design works perfectly twin-turbocharger applications with their attendant high horsepower expectations.

Only two years after it first appeared under the hood of the General Motors S-10 Sidewinder, the Banks' Big Hoss intake manifold for the Duramax 6.6L diesel V-8 became available to the general public for competitive applications. Designed for maximum performance and the use of dual turbochargers, the unit is designated as a BankSpeed Product (now available over the counter for use in organized competition only).

Because it's a Banks product, this intake manifold is all about function first and foremost, but it has ended up looking very cool on all-out racing engines.
